NYCT Design-Build Station Renovation Initiative – Package 8

New York, NY

Following the successful completion of the New York City Transit Enhanced Station Initiative Package 1, Urbahn’s Design-Build team was awarded Package 8, which encompassed three subway stations in Manhattan and the Bronx: 145th Street, 167th Street, and 174-175th Street. The project maintained the same visual language and customer amenities that had proven effective in the first project, such as entrance canopies, entry totems, control area and platform dashboards, and benches with WiFi chargers. Despite the even more ambitious 11-month timeline from contract commencement to station completion and opening, the team remained focused and committed to delivering exceptional results.

To meet the compressed schedule, the design team developed a series of early packages that facilitated concurrent construction on various project components while the design was finalized, and long-lead items were fabricated offsite. This strategic approach highlighted the team’s ability to adapt and innovate, ensuring that the stations were delivered on time without compromising quality or functionality. The successful execution of Package 8 relied on an intensely collaborative approach, technical expertise, and dedication to delivering outstanding projects.
