New York Psychiatric Wet Lab
The New York State Psychiatric Institute, a hub of medical research, is currently undergoing a series of renovations to its upper-level research laboratories. The most recent project focuses on the complete retrofit of the 6th floor to create animal research wet labs. The redesign aims to establish a collaborative work environment tailored to the specific needs of two principal scientific investigators, featuring open laboratory space, common facilities, shared offices, and private research areas, all within a renovated, code-compliant facility.
The project involves comprehensive gut renovation, including full reconfiguration of the floor layout, installation of an entirely new HVAC system, upgrades to the electrical distribution, and provision of plumbing and fire protection systems. The laboratory spaces are organized in a modular grid and maintain negative pressure to ensure the integrity of lab processes. The labs are equipped with state-of-the-art casework, new fume hoods, a walk-in specimen freezer and refrigerator, and extensive IT connectivity to support the cutting-edge research conducted by the investigators and their teams.
