LIRR Design-Build Station Renovation Initiative – Package 1
The first LIRR Enhanced Station Initiative package aimed to renovate several Long Island commuter rail stations, including East Hampton, Deer Park, and Brentwood. As part of the Governor’s initiative, the Design-Build team was tasked with completing the project within an 11-month window from award to construction completion. To meet this challenging timeline, the team provided accelerated design services, delivering the various station design documents in just 3 to 5 months. The project scope encompassed restoring the character-defining architectural fabric to a state of good repair while updating the stations with a range of contemporary finishes and systems.
A variety of improvements were implemented to upgrade the facilities and reinforce the LIRR brand identity. These enhancements included the restoration of exterior envelopes and platform canopies, modernization of station house interiors, installation of static and digital customer information elements, LED lighting, and the incorporation of various customer amenities.
