Georgetown Marriott Resort Hotel and Gaming Center

Georgetown, Guyana

At the meeting point of the Demerara River and Atlantic Ocean lies a design vision intended to transform Georgetown’s skyline with an ambitious hospitality complex in Guyana’s capital. The master plan imagined what was to become the country’s defining luxury destination, skillfully conceived to complement the city’s burgeoning economy. Drawing strength from its strategic location in the business district, the complex was designed to serve as both an urban retreat and a gateway to Guyana’s spectacular inland treasures, from winding rivers to pristine rainforests.

In the design, the concept unfolded around a serene central piazza, where a 10-story hotel tower would rise above landscaped gardens and shaded gathering spaces. The planned 160 rooms were oriented to capture views over the city and river, while below, the property was envisioned to come alive with an infinity pool, fitness center, and carefully curated entertainment venues. A gaming center, nightclub, restaurants, and versatile conference spaces were designed to work in harmony, creating what could have been a natural hub for both business and leisure. This measured approach to luxury hospitality aimed to offer Georgetown a contemporary landmark that would honor its unique position as both a historic capital and a launching point for exploring Guyana’s remarkable interior.
