Broad Hollow Biosciences Park
The Broad Hollow Bioscience Park at Farmingdale State College exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to fostering biotechnology innovation in New York State. This 18-acre research incubator complex, initiated by the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR), has evolved through multiple phases to meet the dynamic needs of the Long Island biotech industry. The park’s inaugural building, developed through a design-build approach, houses 62 individual laboratories designed for flexibility and adaptability, while the second phase introduced 34 modular laboratories in a second building, further enhancing the complex’s capacity to nurture scientific advancement.
Building on this success, the park’s second phase introduced 34 modular laboratories in a second building, further enhancing the complex’s capacity to nurture scientific advancement. Throughout both phases, the focus remained on creating spaces that can be easily customized by tenants, from startups to established firms. This approach enables researchers to tailor their environments to specific scientific pursuits. In addition, the project team completed fit-outs of several laboratories for specific tenants, further supporting their unique research needs.
